Owen Harrison Austin Ludington Owen H. Austin, age 90, of Ludington, formerly of Laingsburg passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel with Pastor Damon Beavers officiating. Family will greet friends two hours prior to the service 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Laingsburg Cemetery. Owen was born on October 4, 1922 in Laingsburg, MI; the son of Albert and Bernice (Schulze) Austin. On June 7, 1941 he married Loretta Smith in Laingsburg. He served in the United States Army and was a Tool & Die Journeyman. He retired as the PostMaster in 1978 from the Laingsburg Post Office after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion. Owen is survived by his wife, Loretta; 3 sons; Dick (Marilyn) Austin of Ludington, MI, Del (Jean) Austin of Laingsburg and Doug (Mary) Austin of Remus, MI; eight grandchildren; Michael, Kelly, Scott and Dr. Christopher (Stacie) Austin of FL, Rod (Sue) Austin and Tamara (Stephen) Skok of Laingsburg, Amy (Dave) Brooks and Amanda (Jon) Jakubowski of Holt, MI; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers Derwin and Wendell Austin, sister Dorothy Stephens, great grandchild, Chance Austin and daughter-in-law, Jamie Austin.
