About	Bob declined physically and mentally from myotonic muscular dystrophy, a genetic disease. Considering this, he lived a long life. Those who knew Bob well knew that the incredible strength he possessed in his younger years sustained him to the very end of his life. Bob graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1964. He competed on the school's wrestling team, won the state championship as a junior and finished second as a senior. Bob attended Southern Oregon University, graduating with a degree in general studies with an emphasis in the earth sciences. He wrestled for the university and competed for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. At the university, he met and married Alice Marie Minger to whom he was married for 39 years. Together, they had four children.
