In Memoriam - Richard McGovern

(As published in the Seattle University Magazine, Fall 2009) Richard McGovern died Jan. 8, 2009. He was 69. McGovern grew up outside Seattle in Kent, Wash, where he attended Kent Meridian High School. After high school he went on to Seattle University, where he earned an electrical engineering degree. After graduation McGovern went to work in sales for GE Medical Systems and was passionate about customer service. Outside of work McGovern was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in West Seattle and a dedicated member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. McGovern loved to vacation in Hawaii, and was an avid gardner, gifted craftsman and expert handyman. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ellen; their daughter, Kate and her husband, Sandy; his grandsons, Zachary and Luke; and his sisters, Eileen and Jean.
