About R. Scott Carter, age 37, died peacefully at home in Salt Lake City on March 29, 2000.

Born January 12, 1963 in Salt Lake City, son of Ronald Carter and Marjorie Kay Barker. Scott graduated from Kearns High School. He later returned to work there as a teacher of high risk students. While at Kearns High, he was recognized as the Teacher of the Year. He loved all sports and excelled in body building and power lifting, winning numerous awards. He was a past Head Judge for the National Physique Committee. He was also a prolific home run hitter in County Rec Softball.Scott had a strong testimony of the gospel, and served faithfully in the Church. He was called on an LDS Mission to Houston Texas in 1982, serving as Assistant to the President. He held many callings, but was most proud of his service as a home teacher.

He married Jennifer Sue Garff on April 17, 1993 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have four children. Scott was a devoted father, who always made time to play with his kids.

He is survived by his mother; father; wife, Jennifer; and his five children, Kirsten Nichole, 11; Alexander Scott, 6; Hailey Sue, 5; Chandler Nels, 3; and Adelaide Sommer, 2. He is also survived by one brother and one sister; grandfather, Denny (Jane) Eckenrode; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Taylorsville 16th Ward, 3495 West 4850 South. Friends may call Tuesday at the church from 1 - 1:45 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
