What is Petey Pablo known for?

Born on July 22, 1973 in Greenville, North Carolina, Moses Barrett III, better known by his stage name Petey Pablo, is a respected figure in the American hip-hop scene. Despite beginning his post-prison life in New York City, his musical career started in earnest when he signed with Jive Records. Noted for his distinctive sound and powerful lyrics, Pablo became a staple of the hip-hop genre.

Pablo rose to fame with his 2001 single "Raise Up," which received high rotation on MTV and urban radio, climbing to number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album, "Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry," not only peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200 but also earned a Gold certification by the RIAA. His success continued with his second album, "Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry," peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and was also certified Gold. Moreover, the album's lead single, "Freek-a-Leek," became the most notable hit of his career, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
