Mr Donald Cates, class of 56

After spending 40+ years in the Space business, the Corpus Christi ISD asked me to give a presentation to their Junior class in the area of aerospace. That happened in April 2014. It extended into a 4 1/2 hour Q n A session with intense interest from the students.

grad, of 53, 4yrs usmc. i went to alaska in 57,(still a territory) i was first corrections officer sworn in in ketchikan ak in 1960. worked for the usgov. for 13 yrs, i won alaskas#1 country singer in 72 and again in 85, also enertainer of the yr. went to nashville for first recording session. then toured the world with my band (the timbertramps) retired first time in 2000, gov tracked me down so i went back to work teaching in 19 native villages in southeast alaska until 2005. now all i do is sing and play music all over texas. nm, ark, miss, la, fla, ala,
if anyone is still living from that era send me a note. and thank god we are still here.
