Bill and his brother Fred invented some stage lighting controls in the late seventies that helped them to spawn a huge business. Bill went on to reinvent physics and win a bunch of awards while earning a fellowship at MIT (I'm sure this isn't very accurate).

When we were kids playing softball and one-on-one basketball in the neighborhood it was clear Bill and Fred (the whole famdamily) were smart and going places.
