About	Mr. Douglas Scott Sjoerdsma, 45, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He had been associated with Brentwood Psychological Associates as a specialist conducting psychological assessments and with ECU School of Medicine. He was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church. Doug was also a member and chairperson of the Ayden Recreation Department. Surviving are his wife, Kate Sjoerdsma, of the home; one son, Eric Sjoerdsma of the home; one daughter, Jenna Sjoerdsma of the home; his parents, Ted and Barbara Sjoerdsma of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three brothers, Ron of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gregg of Corona, Calif., and Joel of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Lisa S. VandeLune of Pella, Iowa.
