About	"Corey Allen Long, 21, of Independence, died Tuesday morning at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita as a result of an automobile accident Sunday evening...The family has suggested memorial remembrances to the Corey Allen Long Scholarship Fund... Corey Allen Long was born January 10, 1987 at Neodesha, Kansas, the son of Cody Dee Long and Corina Michelle (Velasquez) Long. Corey attended Independence schools, graduating from Independence High School in 2005. Corey worked as a cook at South Gate for a time and later at the Independence Country Club. He moved to Wichita last August and at the time of his death was employed as a chef with the Hyatt Hotel in Wichita. He was an active blood donor with the American Red Cross. He loved comic books and art. Survivors include: his father, Cody Long of Independence; his mother, Corina Velasquez of Independence; a brother, Brandon Long of Independence; a sister, Sabrina Long of Independence; his paternal grandparents, William and Kay Long of Neodesha; and his maternal grandfather, Reynaldo Velasquez, Sr. of Ontario, California and Eldon and Debbie Woods of Independence.
