Cpl Brandt was born on November 20th, 1985 in Round Rock, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in September of 2003 and attended MCRD San Diego in June of 2004. After recruit training, he went to Camp Pendleton for MCT and then on to Camp Johnson, in Camp Lejune for MOS School. In January of 2005 PFC Brandt reported for duty to H&S BN MCAS Futenma, Okinawa Japan, and was FAPed to HQSVC BN MCB Butler to work at the IPAC. In October of 2006 LCpl Brandt reported for duty at MSG BN, Quantico, VA Class 1-07. Prior to the completion of MSG School, in November 2006 he was promoted to Corporal. In January 2007 Cpl Brandt joined MSG Detachment in Sofia, Bulgaria. Cpl Brandon K. Brandt has had a busy year at the United States Embassy in Sofia. From day one, January 9th 2007, he has been in charge of the Moral Welfare and Recreation Non Commissioned Officer (MWR NCO) of the Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachment and the embassy community. He has been in charge of coordinating, advertising, and hosting Happy Hours along with other functions to raise money for the 232nd Marine Corps Birthday Ball. He also was asked to create and designed the MSG Detachment commemorative coin which is also sold to raise money for the Ball. Cpl Brandt was assigned to temporary additional duty in May of 2007 to Berlin Germany, where he provided armed guard, and worked closely with Condilisa Rice at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski. In June of 2007, President George W. Bush and his wife made a visit to Sofia, Bulgaria in route after the G8 Summit in Berlin. Cpl Brandt provided armed guard, for the President, and was afforded the opportunity to shake hands with President Bush and also had a quick photo opportunity. Recently Cpl Brandt participated in a 911 memorial service at the embassy given by Ambassador John Beyrle .On personal note, Cpl Brandt has had the opportunity while in Bulgaria to extra in a movie, “The Sheppard” staring Jon Claude Van Dam, and has passed on others films due to conflict in schedule. While in Bulgaria, Cpl Brandt has been able to travel to Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Germany, and The Netherlands.
