About Merlon “Louie” Tomah, 78, Houlton, passed away Thursday September 3, 2015 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. Louie was born March 14, 1937, in Houlton, the son of Andrew and Sarah (Atwin) Tomah. Louie worked as an equipment operator for many years and retired while he was working for Lane Construction. He belonged to the East Eddington Grange #301 and was a member of the Tribal Council for the Houlton Band of Maliseet. Louie and Rose also volunteered many hours together at the Maliseet Head Start. Louie loved to listen to his “oldies” music, being outside working around his yard, calling numbers at the bingo hall. Nothing gave him more pleasure though then being around his grandkids. Louie was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was known to be a quiet and gentle man. Louie is survived by his wife Rose Tomah, three daughters, Anne Page and her husband Timothy, Barbara Treadwell and her husband Randy, Michelle Hebert and her husband Matthew, five grandchildren, Sarah, Eve, Luke, Vanessa and Earl, and Molly, three great grandchildren, Adriana, Hannah and Abbey. He also leaves behind two nephews, James DeVeau and his wife Sue, Peter Paul and his wife Rachel, a niece Marie Kennedy and her husband Robert, and two God children, Mike Solumon and Jody Clark. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by, two children, Phillip and Laura Tomah, a brother John, and sisters, Mary Theresa Paul and Helen “Neta” DeVeau.
