About Shirley M. Bossie, 86, passed away Monday March 2, 2015 at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was born August 16, 1928, in St. John N.B. Canada, the daughter of Percival and Gladys (Kinney) Hall Sr. Shirley grew up in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School. She met her future husband Harold “Hal” Bossie after he was discharged from the service following WWII and the two were married on July 27, 1947. Shirley worked as a secretary for SAD #29 from 1969 until 1980. She also worked for the state at the Department of Human Services determining eligibility for medical assistance, AFDC and food stamps before retiring in 1988. Hal and Shirley traveled extensively and visited all of the states except Hawaii. They also spent thirteen years wintering in Florida. Shirley enjoyed knitting, sewing, cross-stitch, and other crafts. Shirley’s faith was very important to her and she was a longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She served in many capacities; such as a Sunday School teacher, served on the vestry, was a licensed Eucharist minister, and was a member of the Governor’s Board for St. Martha’s Guild. Shirley is survived by two sons Jeffrey L. Bossie and his wife Heidi D. Nelson of East Machias, David L. Bossie and his wife Mia of Ben Lomond, CA; five grandchildren Craig Bossie and his wife Colleen of Westbrook, Waylon Nelson and his wife Francesca of Philadelphia, PA, Grace Edwards and her husband Mark of Marshfield, Greg Bossie and his wife Jessica of Palmer, MA, Michelle Bossie and her fiancé Greg Matson of Palo Alto, CA; two great grandchildren Nelson and William Edwards. She also leaves behind a sister Lois Nadeau of Salina, KS; several nieces and nephews, as well as a special nephew Gary Bossie and his wife Alison of New Limerick. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of sixty three years Harold L. Bossie, and a brother Percival “Bub” Hall Jr.
