About Edna M. Johnson of Hodgdon 82, passed away peacefully, secure in the love and comfort of her daughter’s home on November 5, 2014. Edna graduated from Houlton High School - Class of 1951 and took pride in never having missed a single class reunion spanning 63 years. After graduation, she went to work for JJ Newbury’s, where she met and subsequently married her husband, “Bus.” A hard-working woman, Edna held various bookkeeping positions through the years for Bill Doescher, Worthmore, Grossmans, and Dead River Company. In her later years, Edna was employed by Houlton Regional Hospital for 25 plus years. Edna also served in the capacity of Town Clerk of Cary Plantation in excess of 30 years.

Edna was predeceased by her husband, Leonard (Bus) Johnson; her parents, Marvin and Lena (Smith) Foster; and her sister and brother-in-law, Leon and Laura (Foster) Hutchinson. Edna’s life was enriched by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine (CJ) and Bart Virgie of Hodgdon; her son, Fred Johnson and fiancé Christina Lessor of Windham. Edna’s life was further blessed by her grandson, Jonathan Virgie and his wife Erica of North Carolina; her granddaughters, Sydney and Sophia Johnson and their mother Lisa Johnson of Gray, and great-granddaughter, Adelynn Virgie of North Carolina. Edna enjoyed close family relationships with her nieces, Christy Hutchinson of Houlton, Helen Folsom and husband, Bruce Folsom of Hodgdon, Lori Picket Booth Windsor Locks, CT, and nephews, Gary Johnson of Baileyville and Alex and wife Lisa Hutchinson of Hodgdon, as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Edna also treasured the companionship of her dear friend, Pauline McGillicuddy of Hodgdon.
