Graduation Year Class of 1965
Date of Passing May 01, 2011
About Philip James Rush was born November 30th, 1947 in Houlton, Maine. He was raised in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School in 1965. Phil married Nancy Embregts in Quebec City, Canada in 1969. He graduated one year later, in 1970 from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was the first recipient of the Professor Donald J. MacNeil Memorial Award for Excellence in Earth Sciences.

Phil began a career with Inco Ltd. that would span some thirty-five years and a life in both Canada and the United States. The last seven years were as Director of Exploration and Director of Worldwide Exploration. As such, he travelled to many countries including Japan, Indonesia, China, Peru, Turkey and Brazil to name a few. He loved what he did, and he did it passionately. He was described as a gentleman and a man with an incredible work ethic.

His two daughters Karen and Kelly were the loves of his life. His joy as a father was only surpassed by his love of his grandchildren. Calvin, his only grandson, was always his best buddy. His granddaughters Olivia, Natalie and Samantha were his “princesses of the castle”. He derived so much joy from having them around, and they provided the light needed during his final days.

He will be sorely missed, never forgotten and always loved for the good husband, father and grandfather that he was.

Arrangements are entrusted to Flintoft’s Funeral Home and Crematory.
