About	He died surrounded by his family at his residence. Upon returning homefrom the Korean War, he went to work for Houlton Savings Bank, thus beginning a 34-year career in banking. Merritt is survived by his wife, M. Louise (Stairs) Lenentine of Houlton; two sons Mark A. and Peter O.; two sisters, Elva Coburn of Houlton and Alma Hutchinson of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren,
