After high school, she accepted a scholarship from Rockford College, where she continued to play both soccer and football. After two years at Rockford, she transferred to Benedictine University, where she played football her junior year and was named All-NIIC twice.

Harshbarger has typically played professionally for indoor football teams based in the Chicago area. She started her professional career with the Chicago Cardinals in 2010, after going undrafted in 2008.
