About	Sam Mahan, 57, Springfield, Mo., died of cancer at 6:25 p.m. Monday , April 17, 2000, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield. Born in Springfield, June 23, 1942, he had been an area resident all his life. Sam was a member of National Heights Baptist Church, and he was business agent for Local Number 10 of the Brick Layers Union. Survivors are his wife, Connie; brothers, Larry and Benny Mahan; his children and step-children, Jeff Mahan, Jill Hays, Elizabeth Nelson and Mark Watterson; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000. in Nation Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Vaughn Weatherford officiating under direction of Klingner Mortuary with burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the mortuary.
