Hello Classmates!

The Hightstown High School Class of '70 50th (+1) Reunion Committee has reconvened after a COVID forced hiatus and is beginning to resume planning and preparing for our reunion.

As was communicated to you last spring, after we decided to postpone the reunion in 2020, we immediately set a new date which is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2021.

All plans are still in place. We will be having the reunion at the Hilton Garden Inn on Rt 130 in Hamilton from 6-10PM. The cost is $75 per person. Your $75 provides you with hot and cold hor d'oeuvres (6-7pm) followed by a multiple dinner stations style meal. Dessert will follow. There will be a cash bar all evening along with a DJ for your listening pleasure. 

In addition to it being Columbus Day weekend (giving those of you who are working a potential extra day to relax and/or travel home) and an informal gathering on Saturday afternoon/evening at a local watering hole, there may be a football game that weekend (no schedule available yet) and the annual Harvest Festival will be held downtown. We are also hopeful that we can arrange a tour of the high school for all those interested. 

The Hilton Garden Inn has set aside a small block of rooms for us at a special rate ($134) for Sat and Sun nights. They have a pretty liberal cancellation policy, so if you are planning to attend and want to stay overnight, I suggest you book your room early.  Call them at 609-585-6789 and mention the Hightstown High Class of '70 reunion for the special rate.

There will be more communications coming by email in the weeks and months ahead, including the official invitation instructing you where to send your check.

There are still class members we have not been able to contact. If you are in communication with other classmates and have their contact info, please send it along (even if you may have already sent it to us earlier.) 

We hope to see many of you in October.

RESCHEDULING OF OUR 50TH REUNION EVENT

Dear classmates:

Due to the Corona virus pandemic uncertainties that face us in future months, the committee has come to the decision to reschedule our planned reunion. The new date of our reunion will now be SUNDAY OCTOBER 10, 2021. We felt that our main concern was that of protecting the health of our classmates. Along with that, we did not want classmates to have to make the difficult decision of whether or not to attend a function that might include social distancing (no handshakes or hugs), being around a large crowd, flying in an airplane, and/or staying in a hotel.

The reunion will take place in the same venue (Hilton Garden in Hamilton), at the same time (6-10pm),  and will remain the same price per attendee ($75). 

What we are not sure of at this time are some of the other activities that we had hoped would make for a great reunion weekend (tour of the high school, Homecoming football game, Hightstown Harvest Festival, etc).

The Hilton will (again) set aside a block of rooms for us at a discounted price. THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ALREADY BOOKED RESERVATIONS FOR 2020 MUST CONTACT THE HOTEL TO CANCEL THOSE RESERVATIONS. THE HILTON WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY DO THAT FOR YOU.

This email will more than likely be the last email you receive from us for a while. With that in mind, should any of your contact information (address, phone, EMAIL ADDRESS)  change,
please remember to contact us with the new information. 

Finally, we have still not been able to contact many of our classmates. If you have already sent us a "lost" classmate's info, no need to do so again. BUT, if you should come in contact with a classmate that does NOT know about our reunion plans, please ask them to email us with their information.

Reunion plans are falling into place nicely. We have our reunion date and venue, and now all we need is YOU!
The reunion will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the Hilton Garden Inn on Route 130 in Hamilton.

For those who wish to stay at the hotel, they have set aside a block of 20 rooms (first come, first served) at a special rate of $134/night for either a king room or queen room. For those who wish to book a suite, the special rate is $154/night for a king or double. (Breakfast is NOT included at the discounted rates for any of the rooms.) More rooms may be available at the discounted rate, based on availability. My suggestion would be, if you know you are staying overnight, book the rooms ASAP. Just check their cancellation policy. This block of rooms will only be held until September 18th, and will then be released to the general public after that. The block of rooms at this special rate will be available for Saturday, and Sunday nights. While they are not "setting aside" any rooms for Friday night, if there are rooms available and you wish to reserve for Friday night also, the discounted rates will apply (you may have to speak to someone in person to get the special rate for Friday night.In fact, you may have to make two separate reservations if you are including Friday, ie: one reservation for Fri and another for Sat and/or Sun.) Other activities going on during Reunion Weekend will include the annual Homecoming Football game on Friday night October 16th, and we have arranged for a tour of the High School on Saturday October 17th. I have asked that the tour be in the afternoon, but they will not give me a specific time slot at this point in time. I have to contact them in September to know what our time slot will be. Once I get that information, I will pass it on. There is also talk of informally arranging a place for classmates (who wish to do so) to meet possibly on Saturday night for refreshments. Contact has been made with Tavern On The Lake ( https://tavernonthelake.net ) downtown and their space upstairs is available and they have tentatively pencilled us in for Saturday night. As like the school tour, final details will not be ironed out until we get closer to the date. Another interesting thing you might want to consider is a visit to the new (slated to open in the spring) Old Hights Brewing Company Brewery on Ward St. https://www.oldhightsbrewingcompany.com
