March 11, 1971.

On the day of his death Edmond was serving in Viet Nam as a U S Army Helicopter Command Pilot, 48th Helicopter Assault Squadron. On March 11, 1971 Edmonds’ squadron, “The Jokers” were engaged in the battle of Lam Som 719. Edmond and his squadron mates were tasked with extraction from Cambodia of overwhelmed and cut off ARVN troops. Edmond’s lost his when his helicopter was brought down by hostile fire. His remains were recovered the following day.
