About (Eli) Voil Lattin, 87, passed away on January 7, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Winslow, AZ to Eli Voil Lattin Sr. and Betty (Rubi). After his father’s death in a train accident when he was 12 years old, his mother moved the family to Albuquerque in 1949 where he attended Jefferson Jr High and Highland High School. He was very active in athletics and student government at Highland. While at UNM he was also in the Air Force Reserve. He married Mary Legere in 1961 and they had two sons. That marriage ended, and in 1985, he married Shirlie Radosevich. Their blended family enjoyed weddings, Thanksgivings and numerous other wonderful celebrations. He loved each of his children and grandchildren and appreciated the relationships they had together. He especially enjoyed serenading them off-key for their birthdays.

As a recognized architect, he had a passion for creating and constructing beautiful, unique homes and commercial buildings in Los Alamos and throughout the Southwest. He worked well into his early 80’s and guided and encouraged many young construction professionals, enabling them to start their own successful companies.

He met Shirlie through square dancing and together they enjoyed the friendships they made in their clubs. Remodeling his own homes, camping, traveling, square dancing, and their church family at Valley Lutheran in Los Lunas were a cherished part of his life. Voil never met a stranger and made friends with all. Up until a few years ago, he participated in Tai Chi classes, and he was a favorite of all his “girlfriends” in class. Throughout his life and even until the very end, he was always creating, designing, and exercising his imagination. He brought his work ethic and aesthetic to his art, his work, and his family. His calm manner, strong devotion to family, and sense of humor are missed every day.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Paul. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirlie, younger brother Vernon (Pat), two sons, Voil Jr (Tracy) and David (LisaRae), and stepchildren David (Karen) and Joyce (Paul), 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank his many kind caregivers who have helped us keep him at home the last two years. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Valley Lutheran Church, “That Vision” fund.
Events His memorial service will be February 10, 2024 at 11:00am, Valley Lutheran Church, 3259 NM-47. Los Lunas, NM 87031. Arrangements by Noblin Funeral Home, Los Lunas.
