Twin Tones
Class of 1958
John and Jim Cunningham, the Twin Tones, are 1958 graduates of Hicksville High School, Hicksville, New York, a community nestled about 30 miles east of New York City.
RCA Records signed the boys back in the late fifties while still in High School.
Their signature recording of Jo Ann was released in December of 1957. It attained moderate success and broke into the top 100. The song was recorded, too, by the Playmates, and their version reached the top 20 on Billboards Charts.
Both versions have sentimental value to many followers but it appears the Twin Tones song is closer to the hearts of many early rock fans.
