About	Renee Schindler Hughey Resident of Atascadero A lifelong lover of animals, Renee passed away suddenly on December 21st, 2011, out under the open sky, with her horse Arnie and beloved German shepherds Tess and Shay by her side. Born in Santa Monica, California in 1962, Renee grew up the eldest child of a large, loving family in Palo Alto, where she graduated from Gunn High School before attending College of the Siskiyous and San Diego State University. Following her education, she returned to Palo Alto to work in financial planning, where in 1985 she met the love of her life and future husband, Boon. Seeking a simpler life and more room for animals, they moved to the Central Coast in 1988 and settled under the oaks in Atascadero. While Renee had ridden bareback all over the Los Altos hills as a youngster, it was here that she developed her skills as an accomplished equestrienne in the disciplines of jumping, eventing, and dressage on both her horses and mule; a passion that she actively enjoyed to the very last moment of her life. Renee is survived by her husband of 22 years, Boon; German shepherds Tess and Shay, horses Arnie and Raleigh, mule Serafina and cat Grommsie; mother Jeanne Schindler and brother Christopher Schindler of Boise, ID; sister Julie Schindler and husband Brian Larsen, nephews Felix and David, of Sonoma, CA; Sister Kathleen Schindler and husband Kerry Lindorfer, nephew Casey and niece Erin, of Boise, ID; and many inlaws, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless good friends.
