On Saturday, June 23, all are invited to a potluck bar-b-q at Bev and Pat’s home on the Mississippi River bluffs in Herculaneum, a short jaunt off I-55 .(136 Nassau Street, 63048) Brats and hot dogs will be supplied, and the rest is pot-luck! Bring your swimsuit if you dare (by now, we’re all probably oblivious to wrinkles/extra inches). But all are welcome to just sit or stand around to chat with folks that you may have seen recently or folks you haven’t seen since high school. Don’t be shy…we may feel awkward at first, but after that, it will be like “old home week”! We’ll pull out the washers and corn hole games, too. Time: 3 p.m.-dark, 136 Nassau Street, 63048. You can RSVP (so we know how many brats to get) anytime and Bev will keep track of what folks think they will be bringing. When it gets closer, we’ll call (or email) what foods people have indicated (so we don’t have 5 cakes and 8 pans of beans). . So, with the encouragement of some folks who responded to an earlier email, it has been decided to join the Hancock Alumni Association at their annual dinner dance. It will be held Friday, October 26, at the Genesis banquet facility, 2651 Telegraph, 63125. I talked to Pete Moleski, the current president of the Alumni Association, and he anticipates the price to be $25 per person which includes dinner, an open bar (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks), and a d.j. He assured me that the “new” d.j. that they used last year does not blast the music and plays music from all the decades of classmates. (I told him that we had a concern…most of us will want to visit and chat and we don’t want loud music to prevent us from hearing each other…and he said that should not be an issue at all.) There is plenty of parking and handicap accessible restrooms. So, mark down the date!
Pete said they will probably be emailing or mailing additional info about how to pay (by check or by PayPal) in late August or September . And if the price is a financial burden, let Bev know. We’re sure we can make arrangements to get it paid for you. After all, you have a 50-year reunion only once! And the Dougherty’s have a couple of spare guestrooms to offer, too.
