Randy McDowell

Class of 1970

I guess no alumni really wants to blow their own horn, yet I will post something I think needs to be said. 1970 was a while back for all of us from the Class of 70 and "NO" we are not Tom Cruise or Christy Brinkley any more, but we are what we are! 50+ years older, and yes I am a different person than I was50 years ago. Downtown Obetz is still the same, but the city limits, "WOW" how they have changed.
Yes I have changed a lot compared to the nerd I was back then. I am now a Veterans Counselor, I have studied Psychology, and have helped 178 veterans and others from across these United States get professional help ( more then I could offer ) but all of these people are alive today. I was a licensed minister who gave up his pulpit due to not meeting requirements of the Bible, but I still counsel with many people about life and religion. I have talked suicides off bridges and ledges and have helped out in hostage situations. I am a 100 % Disabled American Veteran and proud of it! I now give back to the people in many ways, as the people give to me, and I am referring to the people of these United States of America. I am a Professional Storm Spotter/ Tornado Chaser and have been from Colorado to both borders chasing storms to keep the people safe by feeding information the National Weather Service. I am not a glory hound and have never been on TV as a spotter/ chaser. I have lost friends that played the game to close to the tornado that were glory hounds. I was taught by the NWS to be safe in my work and have cried with families that lost family members and preached many a funeral, in areas where a tornado left only a slab of concrete with a commode and a bath tub. The family survived, but their neighbors were lost in the tragedy

As members of the Greatest School in the nation, I think it best be said we each should pay tribute to our school as to what we became after graduation. Look at what Chuck did with Hammy High Alumni. Bud Shaw announced a lot of the football games, just to name a few. What about you?

I hope I have made the members of the class of 70 with my endeavors as well as the Alumni and the Best Damn Band in the City of Columbus! THE HAMILTON TWSP RANGERS!!! AMEN
