| About Me | Hitting the big 70 this summer and would enjoy reading what others have been doing the past fifty+ years. After Hubbard, I completed a two-year program in computer programming at Southern Illinois University. Afterward, I spent three years at Elmhurst College, where I received my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education. Student teaching quickly made me realize that being a teacher was not a strength. Scanned the want ads, got a programmer job, and spent the next forty-plus years in IT until retiring in 2015. Though I did little business travel, I had one memorable trip. Over three weeks, I journeyed around the world, starting from Chicago with stops in San Diego, Singapore, London, and then back home. Wendy and I met in college, married in 1976, and lived in Hinsdale, LaGrange, and Western Springs before moving to Maine in 2012. Wendy's family has had a cottage in South Bristol, Maine, since the early 1920s, where we vacationed yearly until relocating to the Pine Tree state nine years ago. Two of our three children also have moved to Maine. Carolyn, the oldest, is a nurse anesthetist at Maine Medical in Portland. Following in age is Bart, a special education teacher in the Brunswick, Maine school system. Youngest daughter Lauren lives in New Jersey, working in the contract section of a pharmaceutical company. All have advanced degrees, and Lauren, her JD. We are immensely proud parents. Amid working and raising a family, I received my MBA from the University of Chicago in 1994. The best two years of hell in my life. During that time, Wendy and I had the opportunity to attend a small dinner party hosted by Nobel Laureate in Economics, Merton Miller. He came around meeting everyone inquiring about our interests and career ambitions. It was quite a thrill. Politically, I support programs that are focused on the greater good, emphasizing the social institutions of family and the workplace. Spiritually, the words of Thomas Paine ring true - "I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life.
