Class of 64

This is Yasuoki Tanaka, a student from Japan who used to play the violin. I attended Guilford High from1961 to 1963, my sophomore and junior years. Though I could not graduate from GHS with you, because I had to move to Massachusetts,I concider Guilford my second home town. At that time, I knew very little English and used to have a hard time communicating with my classmates,but everyone was so kind to me and always made me feel at home. I never forget that!

Now I am retired from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where I had spent 40 years,that I have more time to reminisce about those two years in Guilford. If anyone remembers me, drop me aline at

Calvin Leete and the Clorox Power A Bright Future Grant

Calvin Leete was nominated by a parent to participate in the Power a Bright Future Grant competition. The school is competing against others across the nation for a $50,000 grant that would be used to modernize the school playground.
