Eston Dixon
Class of 1981
When I graduated from high school i had no idea what I was going to do. I tried to go to work and that didnt work. I was arrested for a crime that I did not commit. I decided to go to college. I then left for Tyler, Tex. I attended Texas College along with some others friends from Greenville. I left for Tyler with just the clothes on my back and $5 in my pocket. I came from a poor family so there was no one to take care of me. I stayed in school for 3 years and was coming close to graduating when my first child was born. I worked at a resutruant in Tyler. This allowed my son's mother to continue in school. Well a change came and I decided to move to another life. I started selling drugs to make ends meet. It was good at first but that all changed and I started using the product I was selling. I went through alot and took the woman who was with me through a lot. I remaind on drug for some 11yrs until my life changed and God saved me. I have now been clean and sober for 13yrs and married to a beautiful and wonderful woman who really and truly loves me. I am an associate minister at my church Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas, I work in the HIV/Aids field as Certified Community Health Care Worker and Risk Reduction Specialist. I teach a substance abuse class at the TORI program at the Potters House with whom I am the first graduate of the program. I am also in working with my passion that is football, I have been coaching for some 16 years now. I am the Athletic Director for the Pleasant Grove Trojans. I did mention am married and have 2 wonderful stepdaughters whom i love along with my own 3 children. I have 9 grandchildren who love their papa. So God has been so good to me and I thank him for that.
