About DANNEBROG — Barbara Dee Anne (Helie) Schott, 68, of Dannebrog died on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Craig Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schott was born on Dec. 11, 1946, in Grand Island to Gerard and Mary (Fox) Helie.
She married Dave Wayne Schott on May 17, 1976.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Georgia Miller of Cairo and Dave “D.J.” and Jennifer Schott of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Jason Glause of St. Libory; a brother, James Helie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan Bostic of Beebe, Ark., and Jerilyn and Greg Merrick of Palmer.
Also left to cherish her memory are six grandchildren, Michaela, Kiesha, Kristen, Alyson, Eastyn and Barret, along with a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Christopher Schott.
She was raised and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1965. After graduation, she entered the U.S. Naval Academy. She continued her education at St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1973. She continued to work as an RN until her retirement in 2006.
She and Dave made their home in Grand Island until 1984, when they moved near Dannebrog. Barbara was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Barbara’s enjoyments included sewing, playing cards, baking, cooking, reading and watching Husker football. Her grandchildren were her life and she loved spending time with her family.
Memorials are suggested to Barbara’s family.
