About Patricia Ann Snyder (64) was born January 21, 1947 to Robert & Bernice Snyder. Patricia graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1965, attended the University of Nebraska earning a Bachelor's degree in human development in 1970. She received her Master's degree in education curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada in 1980. After completing four years of teaching in Grand Island she was joined in marriage to Jack Riley of Conway, S.C., where she taught math and reading for two years to Army soldiers at Fort Jackson prior to moving to Nevada. Patricia initiated new enterprises by opening two preschool-through-kindergarten private schools: the Hallmark Preschools, selling both preschools in 1984. Patricia then began a teaching career for the Clark County School District, teaching both first & second grades for a period of 15 years while simultaneously investing in and developing various real estate acquistions.
Patricia and her sister Roberta Hamilton designed, developed, owned and operated a private school, Hillcrest Academy, in Henderson, Nevada from 1999 to 2007 at which time it was sold. Patricia and Roberta then became educational consultants and started various other business projects. She enjoyed speculating in real estate both in Nebraska and Nevada while also designing and developing shopping centers, schools and home communities.
Patricia will be greatly missed by her niece & nephew Ashley and Nathan, sister Roberta, friends and family and devoted classmate & partner Mr. Jim Tobin. Jim was a great source of strength to her and her family during her final days while fighting the battle of cancer.
Patricia achieved much in her short life and enjoyed life to the fullest. Patricia was paid tribute to by former Nevada State representative, Congressman, Jon Porter, on the House of Representatives floor in 2007 thanking her for her dedication and commitment to enriching countless lives.
She had a love for adopting animal shelter dogs, leaving behind three loyal, devoted mixed breeds.
Patricia was laid to rest with graveside services at the Grand Island Cemetery.
