John Albert Elway Jr., born on June 28, 1960, in Port Angeles, Washington, is a renowned former professional American football player. He is best known for spending his entire 16-year illustrious career as a quarterback with the Denver Broncos in the National Football League (NFL).

Elway, a Granada Hills High School alumnus in Los Angeles, California, went on to play for Stanford from 1979-1982 before being drafted as the first pick in the 1983 NFL Draft. His career highlights include being a two-time Super Bowl champion (Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII) and being named Super Bowl MVP (Super Bowl XXXIII). He was also named NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1987 and received the NFL Man of the Year award in 1992. Elway, recognized nine times as a Pro Bowl player and three times as a second-team All-Pro, led the league in passing yards in 1993. He was also recognized on the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. His #7 jersey is retired in honor by both the Denver Broncos and Stanford Cardinal.
