Service description Gabe entered the 141st ECB of the ND Army National Guard in 1994. He stayed with the same company out of Valley City, ND through Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 from December 2003 to February 2005. In Iraq, he served under the 1st Infantry Division and took part in major operations supporting the containment of Al Sadr Militia after April, 2004 and offensive operations in Samarrah and Fallujah throughout the year. The primary mission of Gabe's unit was IED clearance and Gabe was involved on many missions throughout the 14 month deployment. He didn't take leave in order to stay with his unit and not miss out on any mission. When his TOD was ending, he found out that classmate Jayme Kohler with the amphibious troops aka marines, were starting their first rotation. Currently, Gabe is an E7 in the NDARNG and is preparing for a second deployment in 2009. |
