About Nicholas Paul Woloszyn, age 16 of Northbrook, a beloved son, brother and friend to many was received into heaven on January 9, 2016. He is survived by his parents Paul and Melissa (Welsh) Woloszyn of Northbrook, Ill. and his two sisters, Ashley and Megan.
Nick was born on August 30, 1999 and spent his life in Northbrook, where he attended Wescott Elementary, Maple Middle School and was a junior at Glenbrook North High School. A talented athlete, Nick was a member of Glenbrook North’s lacrosse team and played football, baseball, wrestling and basketball. Nick’s boundless spirit and thirst for excitement led to an abiding love of snowboarding, ice hockey and many more exhilarating pursuits.
Nick lived a life without boundaries, a magnetic personality with a charisma, warmth and kindness evident to all those around him. He surrounded himself with a group of close friends that shared his passions, and they supported one another through all of life’s highs and lows.
Nick was blessed with the love of a large extended family, including his paternal grandparents, Wally and Luba Woloszyn of Ingleside, Ill., and his maternal grandparents, Suzanne and the late Larry Welsh of Aurora, Ill. He was beloved by his aunts and uncles, Sarah and Harty Ausel of Dimondale, Mich., Amy and Tracey Guddendorf of Yorkville, Ill., and Paul and Doris Nippa of Spring Grove, Ill. Nicholas was loved by his cousins Luke and Matthew Ausel of Dimondale, Mich., Michael and Abby Guddendorf of Yorkville, Ill. and Jason Nippa of Chicago, Ill.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, located at 1787 Deerfield Road in Highland Park. All are welcome to come and share happy memories of Nick’s life. With the anticipated arrival of hundreds of community members, and to ensure all have an opportunity to be present, the Woloszyn family requests that those planning to attend depart after paying respects.
The following day, Friday, January 15, at 11:00 AM, a funeral service will take place at Village Presbyterian Church, located at 1300 Shermer Road in Northbrook.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family to create a fund honoring Nick’s legacy through supporting young people in the Glenbrook North community.
