View Tribute Book Miles Thompson, the son of Laurie Cooper and Marc Thompson, was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 9, 2002. Miles an excellent student, attended school in Forest Park Kindergarten through 7th grade. He played soccer and was on a youth basketball league championship team. He loved building Lego sets, biking and playing in the park and often tossed the football with his brother and stepdad outside. Miles loved learning and attended STEM Summer camp at Francis Parker School. His family moved to Northbrook from Forest Park when Miles was in 8th grade. Miles grew to be a popular student at Glenbrook North High School. He had to adjust to a new school (Northbrook Junior High) and make new friends, but he didn’t let the transition hold him back. He was never down and out. Miles was infectiously energetic always giving people inspiration by being positive, and his friends loved him. He was a protective friend and big brother to many. Miles also worked as a counselor and coach at Hi-Five sports camp. Miles became an all-conference football player and earned team defensive MVP. He was a workhorse who earned a full-ride scholarship to St. Ambrose University in Iowa. COVID-19 derailed the St. Ambrose season, so Miles deferred his freshman year and worked full time at Waterways Car Wash. He made a positive impact on the entire staff and customers while working there and was quickly promoted. Miles had a very entrepreneurial spirit and launched his own LLC with the goal of building a trucking and logistics company. Miles transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, July 8, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother and step-father, Laurie Streeter Cooper and Michael Cooper; his father, Marc Thompson (Sonya Anderson); two brothers, Andrew and Jonah; one sister, Jaida; grandfather, Lawrence Streeter; uncles, Lyle Nettles and Akin Sapara;and a host of cousins, extended family, friends, teammates, neighbors and classmates, who all loved him dearly. We thank God for the opportunity to have walked this earth with Miles and experience the love, joy, and inspiration he brought into our lives.
