About Me Married twice. Did the white gloves Navy Wife thing, also the aerospace engineer/FCC beltway-political wife thing. With 2nd husband, cruised and raced small sailboats on the Chesapeake. Skied and stayed in Vail and Aspen a bunch. Did the usual soft drugs and bra burning. Raised two kids, sometimes with help, both kids very independent.. Traveled lots lived in Iran, learned the language; loved the people. Camped in the desert. Rode Arabian stallions with the Iranian army alongside the incredible Qashqai nomads. So fine! Hung out in the 15C bazaar in Shiraz, the City of Roses and Poets. Used to take the kids to Persopolis in our little fiberglass Gian jeep. Parted ways w/2nd husband. Cashed in my airline ticket and backpacked home from Tehran. Fell in love/lust? in Istanbul w/a laughing, bearded young Luxembourger, who came back to the US w/me. Now old friend. Worked for owner/GM of Maryland Inn in Annapolis met some neat jazz musicians who played there. Took a break and met and the lightning bolt thing with a hard-nosed, first generation Italian-American, turned spiritual hippy yoga vegetarian sailor from Coconut Grove: Mando in 76. Still considered a couple. Bought and renovated a house in Key West, hung out, got into theater, radio, sales and promotion. Got involved with film. Started a production services company w/Mando. Wound up doing the production for the first Fantasy Fest in 79, and other festivals. Did some yoga, and someTai Quan Do in Aspen. Took a break to study French in Vichy. Eventually, moved on to be GM TV station. Got to write, edit, direct, produce shows of interest to me and the community. We spent a summer in Pakistan and the Hindu Kush and jeeped and camped across Kenya. Later took longer break, traveled 2 years Asia especially Indonesia, love Bali, and Australia. Much more to see and do. We returned to KW. I started a landscaping biz, became state certified contractor, levis, workboots and trucks. Fun. Met wide range of good and interesting pioneers in the biz. Joined AA 24 years ago, learned a lot about other folks and their experiences in life. Bought a Harley and rode back seat behind a very enlightening and interesting younger man. Now a very dear friend, member of the family. Became a Granma, falling head over heels in love with each grandchild as they came along. Learned a lot about loving tolerance, and the enormous and lasting value of good women friends. Got involved in prison work via my association with AA and landscape workers and their varied and sometimes checquered backgrounds. College time taking Addiction Studies and learning about addiction. Have since been blessed to spend about two years facilitating a superb emotional healing program [Houses of Healing see www.lionheart.com ] to incarcerated men, and to women. DEFINITELY one of the most rewarding things Ive ever done! I still do theater and some volunteer work, and currently do a Taste of Key West tasting tour for cruise ship clients. Working for gret people, and a neat little job. Hope to get back to facilitating again. Im a member of the sea turtle conservation group Save A Turtle, and am certified to rescue stranded turtles and assist with hatchings, etc. Adore it! Cant wait for the grandkids to see a nest hatch! Im now trying to ready the house for sale about a year down the road. Time now to find a patch of land either Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, or ?, so when it all goes to hell, therell be a spot with a clean stream, a bit of old forest, solid country folk ...(read more)
