About Bruce Chambers Obituary

Bruce A. Chambers, 93, of Dearborn, MI, passed away on July 3, 2023. He was born on October 6, 1929, in Toledo, OH, to the late Lois Marie Welch Chambers and Clare Alfred Chambers.

Bruce was a strong believer in education, faith, health, and always caring about family and interested in others around him. He dedicated his life to making a positive impact on those he encountered. Bruce leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Bruce is survived by his four children: Bret (Cindy Parsons) Chambers, Scott Chambers, Cole (Cindy) Chambers, and Lark (John) Washington. He was a proud grandfather to Jill Washington (Nick)Bouma, Claire Washington, Lesli Washington, and Paul Washington. Bruce also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Owen John Bouma. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Bruce received his education from Toledo public schools and graduated from DeVilbiss High School. He furthered his studies at the University of Toledo, where he acquired a wealth of knowledge that he shared throughout his career.

Bruce served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy. His dedication to duty and commitment to his fellow servicemen were commendable. Stationed in Key West FL during the 2yrs of service.

After his military service, Bruce embarked on a successful career as a teacher at Fordson High School and later became the Principal of Dearborn Adult Education. His passion for education and his ability to inspire and guide his students made a lasting impact on their lives.

Bruce found solace and strength in his faith and was an active member of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church. The church provided him with a sense of community and a place to worship and connect with others.

In his free time, Bruce enjoyed walking, playing tennis, exploring various forms of arts, traveling, and participating in community events. He had a zest for life and embraced new experiences with enthusiasm.

A memorial service to celebrate Bruce's life will be held on August 19, 2023, at 12 pm at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn, MI.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bruce's memory to Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn, MI, or Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI. Your support will ensure that the important work of these organizations continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

Bruce A. Chambers will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to education, and his commitment to serving others. His legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
