About Janiga , Robert -Norton Shores, MI- Robert Patrick (Bob) Janiga, age 74, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 26, 1948. On December 6, 1968, he married the love of his life and best friend Nancy (Caruso), and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer, and he was awarded several medals including the Air Medal and the Bronze Star with "V" Device for heroism in combat. After being discharged from the Army, he was employed by Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, where he became an apprentice pattern maker and after 2 years graduated as a journeyman. Bob and Nancy moved to Muskegon, Michigan in 1978, and Bob continued to take pride in his work as a skilled tradesman until he retired in 2011 from L-3 Communications. In his free time, he loved hunting and fishing with family and friends and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his uncle and cousin. Bob also had an interest in classic cars and after retirement restored a 1970 Ford Torino. But what Bob enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family. As a man of faith, Bob demonstrated his love of God and family every day of his life by the way he lived and by the empathy he showed for others. He strongly believed that what was given to him was meant to be used to help those in need. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Janiga; two sons, Scott Janiga and Michael (Rachel) Janiga; two granddaughters, Nicole (Kenton) Upton and Haley (Cody Whiteman) Janiga; a grandson, Oscar Janiga; five great grandchildren, Payton, Paisley, Kaiden, Carson, and Rowan; and his sister Debby (Denny) Debol. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Janiga; and his mother, Marie (Czarnecki) Janiga. There will be a funeral service to remember and celebrate the life of Bob at Harvest - Spring Lake Campus (225 E Exchange St, Spring Lake, MI) on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service and a luncheon to follow.
