Graduation Year Class of 1964
Date of Passing Apr 13, 2013
About Naze “The Rock” Hamood, age 67 of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away Saturday night, April 13, 2013 at his home surrounded in love by his family and friends. Born Aug. 2, 1945 in Lebanon he was the oldest of 7 children. He came to America with his family when he was 5 years old. He was very proud to be an American citizen and thankful for the life that afforded him. He graduated Fordson High School in 1964.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Vivian Gentry. They raised two wonderful daughters, Anita (Hamood) Ganzak and Lila (Hamood) Chojnacki. He had a great relationship with his sons-in-laws, Bill Ganzak and Art Chojnacki. These unions produced three of the most beautiful, talented granddaughters in the world, Madison Gail Ganzak, Abigial Paige Chojnacki, and Isabel Renee Chojnacki. Their “Giddo” loved them deeply and he was a great hands-on grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Allie Hamood and sister Ceham Hamood. Survived by sisters Sally (Ali) Hammoud, Ceif (George) Rizk and brothers John (Hala) Hamood and Hassan Hamood and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Missing him also are his sisters-in-law Maxine (Howard) Akers, Debbie Gentry and Rhonda Gentry.

Naze was the owner and operator of Naze’s Printing Service in the downriver area for almost 30 years. His customers became his friends and many he embraced as family. He was liked, loved and respected by all who met him. He took pride in his work and was an excellent businessman. He was a great athlete, excelling in many sports, but his great love was softball. He is well known in the Dearborn area for his talent and accomplishments on the softball field. He was also a great manager and sponsor, leading his teams to several world softball championships. He was still very active up until the time of his illness in 2012. He was inducted into both the Dearborn Recreation Sports Hall of Fame and the City of Dearborn Sports Hall of Fame. His softball buddies were like brothers to him.

Bowling was another sport he mastered, even though he started at a later age than most. He was very proud of his “300” games, only regretting that only one was during league play. He tried his best to participate in the 2012-2013 season, wanting to keep in touch with his teammates and friends in the league. Everything he did, he always gave it his all. Especially in loving and taking care of his family. Always had a joke to tell, always extending his hand to someone and always having a big, loving heart.
