About Music
HAINES, Wesley Owen age 83 of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away peacefully in his residence on Saturday, January 20, 2010. He was born January 25, 1927 to the late Raymond and Florence Haines. He was proceeded in death by his first wife Pauline Haines and infant son Keith. He graduated from Wilmington College in 1948 with a degree in Music Education and a Masters from Miami University. He started a career teaching music at Elizabeth Township/Miami East School district then continued teaching in Covington, Ohio. Later, he accepted a position of Band Director at Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio where he taught for the next 22 years. He was an accomplished musician and played in every venue around town, including the Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band and leading the house band at Suttmiller's Supper Club. He is survived by Sharon Haines, his wife of 36 years, his daughter Chari Haines, son and daughter-in-law Randy and Mikki Haines, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Shannon Haines, son Mark Haines, and stepson and daughter-in-law, Matt and Sue Henry. His 8 grandchildren are Whitney, Tyler, Bryant, Jacob, Andrew, Gabrielle, Caitlin, and Zachary. There will be a private memorial service for the family. Donations in memory of Wes can be made to Hospice of Dayton.
