About	French Joan C Burns, of Kettering, Ohio passed away suddenly September 20, 1998. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert; and 3 sisters, Arlene, Genevieve, and Audrey. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole & Calvin Schlemmer of Kettering; her son, David of Louisville, CO; her sister, Phyllis Coulon Knowlton of Delaware, OH . Joan lived in Bowling Green from 1931-1946. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1944 and received her Masters from Miami University. She retired from Fairmont High School after 30 years of teaching English, Latin and French. She was a member of AAUW, the Dayton Women's Club, Delta Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa and various educational organizations. Private inurnment was at Woodland Mausoleum. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 1998 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Bryan Palmer-Smith officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, 184 Salem Ave., Dayton, OH 45406, or to your favorite charity.
