About	Warner joined the Navy after graduating from EHS, and the following May he died in a freak accident aboard his ship, the USS Shasta, in the Philippines. He was loading freight into an open (utility-type) elevator when it suddenly started moving up. For whatever reason (we'll never know - he might have panicked or lost his balance) he tried to jump off. He got caught in the sides of the elevator and was crushed. They tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him on the scene, and he was pronounced Dead On Arrival at a hospital in Manila. Warner was a wonderful brother and friend, and after 40 years I still think of him numerous times throughout the day, and it still hurts. He had a great sense of humor and over the years some of his classmates have shared funny stories! Any of you who remember Warner, I'd love for you to share any remembrances you have of him!
