Vickie Jensen is a full professor of sociololgy at California State University--Northridge where she has been employed since earning her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1997. She is the author of several articles and book chapters in the areas of crime, prison, and gender as well as the book Why Women Kill (Lynne Rienner Publishers--2001). Most recently, she was the editor for the encyclopedia Women Criminals: An Encyclopedia of People and Issues. She currently teaches courses in gender and crime, domestic violence, and advanced research writing as well as others in the areas of crime, criminal justice, research methods, and gender. She has been the coordinator of the Crime and Criminal Justice option for the Department of Sociology as well as a field coordinator for students doing work in domestic violence restraining order clinics. She was promoted to full professor in 2007. Additionally, she earned a M.S. in counseling from California State University--Northridge and has done therapeutic work with domestic violence survivors and their children.
