What is Tori Franklin known for?

Born on October 7, 1992, in Evanston, Illinois, Tori Franklin is a noteworthy American triple jumper who has represented her country on the global stage numerous times. She attended Downers Grove South High School and later joined the Michigan State Spartans, where she excelled in her sport.

Turning professional in 2015, Franklin was associated with Oiselle from 2017 to 2019 before joining Nike in 2019. She competed at the 2014 NACAC Under-23 Championships, finishing first overall with a mark of 13.42 meters in the triple jump.

In 2017 at the World Championships in Athletics, she achieved a then personal best of 14.03 m, ranking as the best non-qualifying athlete. The following year, at the 2018 World Indoor Championships, her first-round jump secured her spot in the final where she placed 8th. Adding to her accolades, Franklin broke the U.S. record for the triple jump at the International Meeting Region de Guadeloupe in 2018 with a performance of 14.84 m, surpassing Olympic 4th-place finisher, Keturah Orji's record of 14.71 m.

One of the most significant achievements of her career to date was at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where she earned a bronze medal. She made history by becoming the first American woman to ever medal in the triple jump at a World Athletics Championships, a noteworthy accomplishment indeed.

Outside the athletic arena, Franklin is also an author. Her first book 'You Anthem Stories and Reflections of Celebration' was published in the fall of 2023, showcasing another facet of her versatile personality.

Throughout her track and field career, Franklin's performance in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary saw her ranked 12th in the triple jump category. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she secured a bronze medal with a jump of 14.72m. The Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, in 2021 saw her rank 25th in the triple jump.
