Dr. Larry Flegle (DHS Class of '66), is passionate about online education. He is also very happy when he has a fishing rod in his hand. So the best thing for him to do was to combine two of his favorite things to do. Larry’s wife Jan gave him a 26.6 foot Bayliner cabin cruiser. They decided to berth the big boat at the Ridges Resort & Club in Hiawasse, Georgia on beautiful Lake Chatuge. Dr. Flegle can manage his online classes, grade papers and hold live online seminars with his students using his Verizon Aircard right from the boat. Lake Chatuge is home to 32 varieties of fish. Larry's favorites are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass and crappie. Catfish are fun too because Larry can use a fish alarm on his rods and work on his classes until the alarms go off. Dr. Flegle handles his conference calls on his Blackberry phone. In the photo Dr. Flegle is grading papers. He feels especially good to have a global reach from his boat afloat in north Georgia. It is no wonder that he has become known as "The Fishing Professor."
