Jack Nigh, is he the first from Webster to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery?

Jack Fowler Nigh, son of the late Samuel Melvin Nigh and Minnie Young Nigh, left for Eternal Patrol on November 8, 2011, following an illness of six months. Jack was born in Tulsa, March 25, 1931.  After graduating from Webster High School in 1950, Jack joined the Navy during the Korean War.  He left the Navy after spending his time as a hospital corpsman.

After touring the USS Nautilus in Portland, OR, in 1956, Jack re-enlisted, went to submarine school and nuclear power school and joined the crew on the USS Skipjack, the fastest nuclear powered submarine at the time and still the prototype for the U.S. Submarines patrolling oceans all over the world.

Jack's service in the Navy was very important to him as well as his membership in the local carving club in the Dunkirk, MD area.

Preceding him in death other than his parents were two sisters, Mary
Beth Nigh and Velma Lou Nigh West.  Surviving family includes his wife
G Anne Nigh of Dunkirk, two sisters, Anna Ruth Nigh Holland, husband Joe Holland of Houston, TX, and Donna Nigh Jones of Coppell, TX,  and  daughters,  Michelle Nigh Corbett, husband Michael Corbett of Black Mountain, NC, daughter Patricia Nigh, husband Jim Cornelius, and one son Michael Nigh of Portland, OR.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Courtney Nigh, Michael Nigh, Katherine Nigh Zimmerman, David Nigh, Bridgid Corbett and Fiona Corbett.

Services for Jack will be held with full military honors at Fort Myers Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery on February 1, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.  Attendees should be present thirty minutes early.  Navy Chaplain Fred Rothermel, husband of Dana Sue Powell Rothermel, cousin of Jack, also a resident of the South side of Tulsa, will conduct the services.
