Events	Obituary copied from Arizona Republic We regretfully announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Paul Mattson, 58, on January 19, 2022. Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, he resided in Santa Barbara, CA for almost 30 years. Already an achieved artist before graduating high school (illustration designer for his senior class yearbook as well as competition-selected designer of marketing materials for the Mill Avenue Merchants Association); as well as an excellent student (Phi Beta Kappa), Tom moved to California after high school and completion of specialty graphic design coursework to pursue his passion where he developed a successful advertising/graphic design/web development company as well as a health and wellness athletic wear brand. An avid sportsman, Tom enjoyed mountain biking, beach volleyball, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming and exploring the outdoors whenever possible. An independent spirit, his sense of curiosity about the world took him on many travels; particularly Brazil where he learned to speak fluent Portuguese. Always exploring new things and ideas, Tom loved to cook delicious meals, read the newest sociology/history/political science book, and explore unique locales like the Southwest Indian ruin sites in the Arizona desert. Tom is survived by his father George Bruce Mattson, his brother Greg and Alisa Mattson, his nephew Ryder Mattson, his niece Devyn Mattson and his cousins.
