It has been so long ago since I have attended Colonial High School and actually went to Oveida High School in Junior/Senior years. I remember so many things but mostly what comes to mind is the old Colonial mall having lived behind the mall in the apartments. I had a big party to which many people came in the club house. I later lived with my Mom in the LaCosta Brava apts. I remember that I had great friends to which I will never forget. Such good times and how fast they flew by. Mostly, I remember catching the bus on the corner of the Mall area and then hanging out at the Royal Castle at the time on the corner. I don't even know if it is still there. School was nice, not quite as modernized as today, and teachers were not as friendly. Some were but most weren't. About the only class that I liked was home ec. The food was strange. They had great cinnamon buns back then though. I did like those. We got to wear shorts, halter tops, flip flops, about anything but a bikini to school. Has it changed since then? Smoking was in back then and about everything else since it was hard rock times. I think that some people were afraid to adapt to the times while others adapted right away. The layout of the school was crazy. You had to get used to going all over the place like college. It was more like a social club then a high school back then. Why? Heck maybe it was the times, maybe it was the area we lived in back then, but mostly, it was a lot of fun and that's what counts. It paid off though. I since have gotten my BA, BS, and now almost finished with my PhD degree. Strange how uninterested I was in learning back then, and now a total turnaround as a lifelong learner. What great memories of friends and times back then that I will never forget at Colonial High School!
