CHS 3-story Building Reopened!
posted Jun 19, 2009
At long last the 3-story building has been rebuilt and reopened! It looks terrific with wider hallways and lots of bright lighting. Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll recall that most of the CHS campus was destroyed by Hurricane Charley in 2004. Nearly every building on campus had to be demolished. However, Alumni groups fought hard to save the 3-story building from the wrecking ball. To repair the building it was necessary to completely gut it leaving only the exterior walls of yellow bricks. Those were held upright by 30' foot steel triangular supports.

At this writing most of the buildings on the "new & improved" CHS campus have been built while the media center and athetic building are under construction. At the end of the school term this past year, as buildings were completed, they began moving in students from their portable classrooms. It has been projected that the entire campus will not be reopened until the '11-'12 school year.
