About Robert O. Bergmann, 69, of Charlevoix and Venice, Fla., died April 5, 1991, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Christ Epis- copal Church, Charlevoix. The Rev. Lander Carter will officiate. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix.
Mr. Bergmann was born May 10, 1921, in Charlevoix, the son of Frederick and Sybil Cook Bergmann. He was a 1940 graduate of Charlevoix High School and attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids for two years. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Navy from 1942-46.
He married the former Lillian Dean on Oct. 3, 1948, in Battle Creek. The couple resided in Charlevoix and for the past seven years had resided in Venice, Fla. Mr. Bergmann worked for West- ern Electric as an installer, retiring in 1981 after 40 years.
He had served as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Charlevoix. He was a member of the Round Lake Lodge of Odd Fellows. The American Legion, Leslie T. Shapton Post No. 226;
Charlevoix VFW Post No. 1153; the Englewood Elks Club. He served on the Bergmann Center Board for many years and has received awards for services to the handicapped.
Mr. Bergman received the Bishop's Cross in honor of service and dedication to Christ Episcopal Church of Charlevoix.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; Lillian of Charlevoix and Venice; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Mol of Manlius, N.Y.; one son, David Schuchard of Aberdeen, N.C.; a foster son, William Morrow of Venice; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Bill, Richard (Big), Charles (Shod), Gene and Al, all of Charlevoix; sisters-in-law, Rose Bergmann and Mrs. Josephine Bergmann Wood.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Ted.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday with an Odd Fellow service beginning at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Bergmann Center and envelopes for that purpose are available at the Winchester Funeral Home, Charlevoix, where visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, with an Odd Fellow service at 7 p.m.
