About Ruth P. Bradley, 89, of Midland, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at her home.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1921, in Charlevoix, daughter of the late Rollie and Mary (Waldruf) Baumbach. She attended schools in Charlevoix, graduating from Charlevoix High School. Ruth was a graduate of the Detroit School of Floral Design. The former Ruth Baumbach married Kenneth Bradley in 1941, he preceded her in death in 1966. She had worked at Smith's Flowers, and as a diet clerk at Midland Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. Ruth was an avid gardener, a wonderful cook and greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Ruth is survived by one son, Donald Bradley of Midland; two daughters, Diana Bradley of Midland, and Mary (Ken) Olshewski of Romeo; one sister, Grace Warner of Charlevoix; two granddaughters, Amy (Brian) Bowling, and Ann Marie (Matt) Landfair; three great-grandchildren, Madeline Krawciw, Abbie Landfair and Kenny Landfair; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth's family would like to give a special thank you to her caring doctors, Dr. MacKinnon, Dr. Moore and Dr. Croff; her adopted children, Ginny and Larry Labelle, Jan Morden, Gary and Debbie Purcell, Kathy Dolan, Kathy and Riley Currell, Jeanne Pfieffer and Gael Voorheis, and her caring neighbors, Iva Ervay, George Patton, Doris Wenban, the Morleys and Eric. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; and her in-laws, Orrie and Clara (Spiker) Bradley.

Funeral services will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gerald Ferguson will officiate, with burial in Midland City Cemetery. Ruth's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the charity of their choice in Ruth's memory.
