About Cheryl Kay Monteith: April 24, 1959 - March 21, 2011Cheryl Kay Monteith, 51, of Charlevoix, passed away at her home on Monday, March 21, 2011. She was born April 24, 1959, in Bay City to Gerald and Nancy (Groulx) John- son. In 1968 she moved with her family from Essexville to Charlevoix, and graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1977.On May 7, 1988, she married Daniel W. Monteith in Charlevoix. Cheryl enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, reading, music and traveling to visit family and friends. She loved her cat Sophie and their dog Parker. She was employed as the receptionist at Industrial Magnetics of Boyne City for more than 20years. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Daniel; son Dennis James Mitchell of Mackinaw City; parents, Gerald and Nancy Johnson of Mesquite, Nev.; sister Diane (Russ) Whitlock of Red Lodge, Mont.; brother Matthew (Tonya) Johnson of Nephi, Utah; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Ilona Monteith of Charlevoix; sisters-in law, Sharon Doan of Ely, England, Deborah Nuttal of Charlevoix; brothers-in- law, Scott (Kathy) Monteith of Traverse City; Andrew (Jamie) Monteith of Burnsville, Minn., Jamie (Jennifer) Monteith of Charlevoix, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cheryl's brother David A. Johnson preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1999. Funeral will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix, where friends may meet with family from noon until the time of the service. Cheryl's uncle, the Rev. Jack Johnson, will officiate. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix following the service.
